SNSD Album Sales Zoom with Gee

z0dx0

With the booming popularity of “Gee”, SNSD’s first album has even had a burst of sales.

SNSD released their first mini album on the 7th, titled “Gee”. As soon as this album was released, it immediately went to number one on both on and off line charts, ensuring that they will occupy the music industry in this new year.

With this explosion of popularity, their first album that was released in November of 2007 has also had an increase of album sales.

According to offline album chart research company Hanteo, within ten days of release, “Gee” has sold over 30,000 copies. According to their agency SM Entertainment, they have sold nearly 65,000 copies. Note that there is a difference between the number of album sales reported by Hanteo, which utilizes a sample survey in order to get their numbers, and SM Entertainment, who gets their numbers from the number of albums shipped out to the stores. The most accurate number would be the aggregate of the two.

With the release of “Gee”, their first album sales have spiked as well. According to Hanteo charts, their first album sold over 4,000 copies in January thus far. From January 5th to the 13th, it occupied the 9th and 10th place positions on their ranking charts. It is believed that their actual sales will have surpassed this.

It is extremely rare for an album that was released a year and three months ago to still be ranked in the TOP 10, thereby proving the incredibly popularity of “Gee”.

An industry analyst said “You can tell that SNSD has garnered many fans after their nine month hiatus. No longer can you refer to SNSD simply as just an idol group but a top national group with mass appeal. The SNSD brand is no longer just a temporary trend as they have established themselves with having long lasting permanent value for consumers across the nation.”

2009011912163063694_123618_03

SNSD’s Tiffany talks about the most difficult time since the start of her career.

On the 16th, during “Choi HwaJung’s Powertime” on SBS PowerFM (107.7MHz), in answering a question in the section “rumours that makes my heart feel uneasy”, Tiffany said “When I first came to Korea, I could not adapt and it is difficult for me to converse with people. It hurts me when people blames my parents for this.”

Tiffany said, “I came to Korea even when my parents object me from coming”, “It hurts me when people insults my parents for something I didn’t do well.”

Also, the other members, Jessica said “Unexpectedly, based on single picture, there were plastic surgery rumors about me; even my parents struggled, too.”

Sunny said, “Before I debut, because I live in the same neighborhood as the idol artistes, when there is a scandal about me and them, it is a painful experience.”

T_T Poor girls. I feel like killing hitting whoever said those bad words about them and their parents. Attacking Fany’s parents because of her poor Korean is waaaay low. And yay they didnt have plastic surgeries! Take that you antis Don’t make assumptions based on one single bad picture.

Aish~ Things like this make me go all depressed. Need happy dose N.O.W! So here’s the girls @ SBS Inkigayo. They won #1 mutizen song! Congrats~ ^^ Check out the weird-but-cute save energy song and Gee performance in HD!

And another performance @ MBC Music Core, also in HD of course. XD

Eventhough they’re not there to perform because of some stupid ban, they still won! Soshi jjang! ^^ And they won by a lot too, almost double from the runner ups.

Lol. The stage looks akward after they announce the winner. They shouldn’t have removed the girls *coughdefinitewinnercough* from the performer list.

WG, SNSD & Kara – Reasons behind their popularity

385866By Park JaeDuk @ JoyNews (avalo@joynews24.com)

Leading of the rush of idol girl-groups, the Wonder Girls, Girls’ Generation (SNSD), and Kara, have each honestly revealed the contributing factors to their popularity.

Rising up as ‘National Little Sisters’ after their consecutive hits <Tell Me>, <So Hot>, and <Nobody>, the Wonder Girls noted their ‘5 person, 5 colors’ individuality as the leading factor in their popularity. The member’s distinctive personalities are appealing because they correspond to the varying tastes of fans.

The Wonder Girls stated, “If you look at the fans, it seems as though they like one member while disliking four out of five of us. It’s because all five of us have different personalities.”

Moreover, they used anime metaphors to explain, “If you look at ‘Sailor Moon,’ isn’t there always one character you prefer among Sailor Moon, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, and Venus? Looking at ‘Wedding Peach’ too, you’re bound to like one character more out of Peach, Lily, Daisy. ”

In addition to their ‘5 person, 5 colors’, the Wonder Girls also picked their ‘Non-celebrity-like familiarity’ as their personal charm.

Girls’ Generation, who returned after nine months to sweep both the on and off-line music charts with their comeback, pointed to their bright and wholesome charm as the primary factor in their popularity.

Girls’ Generation offered a rather mature analysis, stating, “It seems like people like the image of girls who look like they’re running around laughing in a thick meadow.” Fans feel happier and gain strength from seeing the members’ individual colors on top of this wholesome and lively charm.

“It’s most impressive when fans say they gained strength during tough times after seeing a Girls’ Generation clip,” stated Girls’ Generation. “They seem to see the bright side out of seeing us genuinely enjoy the work we do.”

On the other hand, Kara, who is quickly coming up with the release of their second mini-album and the title song <Pretty Girl>, selected their ‘team’s quality for looking natural and lively rather than doll-like prettiness’ as a factor in their popularity.

Kara’s hopes for the future were also revealed. “After undergoing a change in members, we increased our recognition with our first mini-album <Rock U>. Now with <Pretty Girl> it seems like we’ve found our own color. We want to be remembered for being natural and lively while being comfortable and easy-going.”

The colors they’ve recently shown on broadcast TV stem from their desire to be seen not as an idol group but as comfortable and easy-going.

The Wonder Girls’ distinct personalities, Girls’ Generation’s bright and wholesome charm, and comfortable and natural Kara—the fascinating battle between the ‘3 shades of charm’ will continue to draw the attention of fans.

No SNSD on Music Bank!

2009011612004873553_1

Popular Girl group SNSD’s KBS 2TV “Music Bank” appearance has been cancelled.

SNSD was supposed to appear in the live KBS 2TV music program “Music Bank” on the 16th. However, just like what happened on the 9th, SNSD won’t be able to appear on “Music Bank”

KBS 2TV “Music Bank”‘s staff informed Moneytoday StarNews that “As per KBS’s rules, it will be hard to see SNSD on Music Bank for a while.”

Rumors rose up that other SM Entertainment artists will have a hard time appearing on “Music Bank” as well due to arguments concerning the last year’s December 30th “2008 KBS Gayo Celebration”

After SNSD didn’t appear on the 9th, however, both sides (SM Ent. and MuBank) said that there are no hard feelings and that “SNSD delayed their stage on MuBank to prepare so they can have a better performance on the 16th.”

In reality, SM artist SHINee appeared on MuBank on the 2nd and the 9th, thus proving the hard feeling between SM and KBS wrong.

But since SNSD’s appearance was cancelled for two weeks, many in the music industry are saying that KBS still has hard feelings against SM for not letting some of their artists perform in the “2008 KBS Gayo Celebration” and is therefore not letting SNSD perform on MuBank for a while.

This.Is.Not.Fair! If the reason they’re not performing is because half of the girls are sick (Tae Yeon, Yuri, Sunny and Soo Young) I would understand, but if it is because of the KBS Gayo thingy… KBS, I hate you. <.< Stop putting SNSD in the performer list if you’re gonna remove them in the end.  I want them on MBank!! The gayo had already passed for god’s sake… Besides, if they really wanna ban SM they should ban Yoona who is in SNSD from acting in their 40% hit drama YAMD too.  Aish~ nevermind. Its their lost. No SM = No DBSK, SHINee, SuJu, SNSD etc = Lower rating. LOL

TaeTae married for one episode only?

n2009010711042623001

After news of all the anti-fans that have grown from the awfully-matched couple Jung Hyung Don and So Nyeo Shi Dae TaeYeon, now news have it that they may just be couple on the show for 1 single episode.

The production team to WGM said, “If without any other intervention, the meeting of the 2 to their make-believe marriage and to what happens after all lies in their own decisions.”

They also added that whether to do this make-believe marriage all depends on the 2 of them, “There is no individual filming before their joint filming for the show. And we are waiting for any unexpected outcomes.”

With all the criticism after seeing the failure in the make-believe marriage with Saori for Jung Hyung Don and adding on to that, there is a age difference off 11 years between Jung and TaeYeon, many are doubting this make-believe marriage would even last.

Meanwhile, the episode featuring Jung Hyung Don and TaeYeon will air on 25th January.

Well this is predictable. There is no way, not even a miracle can make this marriage last. It’s against the world’s logic.
